Embrace the Geek Within

Standard

I’ve been a Star Trek fan since grade three when the school yard back stop was my Enterprise, when I was in my teens I begged my friend’s brothers to teach me to play D & D but they refused so I finally learned to play in my 40’s. I decorated my bedroom wall with a combination of Wayne Gretzky posters and Star Wars memorabelia. I own the extended version of “The Holy Grail” with 30 seconds of extra footage. I have several mix and match Renfaire costumes. I believe Buffy cannot be recreated without Joss Whedon.  I have Firefly costume parties and follow Nathan Fillion on Twitter… Lines the guys use on “Big Bang Theory” would work on me.

There have been times when I have felt guilty that my geekiness has only contributed to the frivolity of our North American culture. But upon further, deeper contemplation I realized that if anyone is going to save this world, it will be the Geeks.

I think it’s finally time that I not only admit to being a Geek, but that I wholeheartedly embrace that Geekiness and thoroughly revel in it

I’M A GEEK AND PROUD OF IT!
